چکیده

Abstract Bark beetles of the genus Polygraphus have recently been involved in large bark beetle outbreaks central Sweden, together with European spruce Ips typographus . Three species can be found this region; poligraphus , punctifrons and subopacus Efficient pheromone traps would facilitate further investigations these their role outbreaks. Pheromone compounds previously identified P. but not Thus, we allowed males females to bore stem sections Norway ( Picea abies ) laboratory. Volatile organic from boring insects were sampled SPME analysed GC–MS several male-specific observed. The male specific 3-methyl-3-buten-1-ol, 3-methyl-2-buten-1-ol, 3-methyl-2-butenal, grandisol, fragranol, Z )-2-(3,3-dimethylcyclohexylidene)-ethanol, E )-2-(3,3-dimethylcyclohexylidene)-acetaldehyde, geranial ?-isogeraniol. [( )-DMCHE], was analysis major compound while )-isomer, as a minor compound. These two gave positive responses EAG analyses antennae )- )-DMCHE used field experiment Sweden only attractive Consequently, established component aggregation pheromone.

Identification of a Male-Produced Pheromone Component of the Citrus Longhorned Beetle, Anoplophora chinensis

The Asian wood-boring beetle Anoplophora chinensis (Forster) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) is an important pest of hardwood trees in its native range, and has serious potential to invade other areas of the world through worldwide commerce in woody plants and wood products. This species already has been intercepted in North America, and is the subject of ongoing eradication efforts in several count...

Identification of Esters as Novel Aggregation Pheromone Components Produced by the Male Powder-Post Beetle, Lyctus africanus Lesne (Coleoptera: Lyctinae)

Lyctus africanus is a cosmopolitan powder-post beetle that is considered one of the major pests threatening timber and timber products. Because infestations of this beetle are inconspicuous, damage is difficult to detect and identification is often delayed. We identified the chemical compounds involved in the aggregation behavior of L. africanus using preparations of crude hexanic extracts from...
